Grand Island, Neb. — Starting Monday, May 4, Stolley Park Road will be closed from South Locust Street to the main south entrance of the Fonner Park Campus.
The Stolley Park Road detour route will be maintained on South Locust Street, Fonner Park Road, and Stuhr Road. Adjacent properties will be contacted directly for access accommodation during construction. This phase of construction on Stolley Park Road is anticipated to be complete and open to traffic by August 15.
The Stolley Park Road project includes new construction from South Locust Street to Stuhr Road. The project will replace the existing asphalt street with a concrete curb and gutter roadway section along with sidewalks/bike trail, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and associated pavement markings and signage. The remaining Stolley Park Road phase from the main south entrance of the Fonner Park Campus to Stuhr Road is scheduled for the fall of 2026.
On January 27, 2026, the Grand Island City Council awarded the Stolley Park Road construction contract to Diamond Engineering Company of Grand Island for $3,323,770.00.
