For electrical problems such as a power outage, flickering lights, downed power lines, or other problems related to electrical power service to your home or business, call the Phelps Control Center at 385-5461 anytime. We are available 24 hours a day for your convenience!

For problems with water service such as a broken water main, loss of water pressure, or questions about water quality, call the Water shop at 385-5436 during the day from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. After hours and holidays contact the Phelps Control Center at 385-5461.

For billing questions, service connections/disconnection's, or any other questions or problems call GIUD Utility Services at 385-5480 or email customer service . Utility Services hours are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Closed holidays.

Platte Generating Station

Mailing address: 1035 Wildwood Drive, Grand Island, Nebraska 68801, or P.O. Box 1968, Grand Island, Nebraska 68802-1968.

Location: Platte Generating Station is located about two miles south of Grand Island at the corner of Wildwood Drive and South Locust Street. From Interstate 80, exit 312, travel north on US 281 toward Grand Island for two miles. At Wildwood Drive, turn east and travel 1 1/2 miles to the main entrance. Platte Generating Station is open to the public during our regular business hours of Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 8 AM to 4 PM. All visitors must check into the office located on the north side of main building (plant) immediately upon entering the site. Anyone planning to enter the plant site after regular business hours should make prior arrangements.

C. W. Burdick Station

Location: The C.W. Burdick Station is located in east-central Grand Island at the intersection of South Cherry and East Bischeld Street, behind (east) the Phelps Control Center. Street address is 800 East Bischeld Street. C. W. Burdick Station is open to the public during our regular business hours of Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 8 AM to 4 PM. All visitors must check into the office located on the south side of main building (plant) immediately upon entering the site. Anyone planning to enter the plant site after regular business hours should make prior arrangements.

F. E. Phelps Control Center

Grand Island Utilities Department Service Center

Mailing address: P.O. Box 1968, Grand Island, Nebraska 68802-1968

Location: The Grand Island Utilities Department's Service houses the Overhead Line Division, the Underground Division and the Warehousing and Purchasing Divisions of GIUD. The center occupies one cull block and is located at 1110 W. North Front Street, or about two blocks north of the City Library on West Second Street. Normal working hours at the center is 8 AM to 12 noon and 1 PM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, except holidays. If you plan to visit anyone at the service center, please call ahead to make arrangements.

Grand Island Utilities Department Water Division

Location: The GIUD Water Division offices are located at 370 N. Pine. Entrance to the offices is now conveniently located off of Pine Street. Normal working and office hours at the Water Shop is 8 AM to 12 noon and 1 PM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, except holidays. If you plan to visit anyone at the Water Shop, please call ahead to make arrangements.
