This is a view of Platte Generating Station's coal handling yard. The structure (starting at far left) in the background is the cooling tower for the turbine in the main building. The building with rail road tracks is the thaw shed (used in winter time to thaw frozen coal before unloading) and track hopper (where coal falls from coal car). Next is the transfer house where coal is crushed and transferred to another conveyor and four conveyors. Next in the above photo is the stock out coal pile, smoke stack, precipitator and the main boiler at far right.
