This is a close up photo of the turbine at PGS.  Gross horse power for this particular unit is calculated to be approximately 147,000 horse power.  Note the large bolts that are protruding upward out of the lower case.   While this particular unit is rated at 100 megawatts, most turbines in modern power plants built after 1970 are often much larger in the 250 to 400 megawatt range.
