The Utility Services division includes GIUD's meter reading staff. The meter readers check GIUD customer's electric and water meters. The Utility Services accounting and clerical staff efficiently verify and render utility bills and process utility payments. To make paying a utility bill as convenient as possible, the City of Grand Island offers our customers the choice of several payment methods.

| All utility bills sent from our office include a return
window envelope for customers to use if paying by mail. These envelopes
require no addressing. When the payment stub is placed in the envelope,
the mailing address shows in the window. Customers who prefer to pay at City Hall can walk in and pay at the lobby counter or can stay in their vehicle by using the drive up window located on the east side of the building. Both locations are staffed from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. Customers arriving after normal business hours can use the night depository located at the drive up window.

| Utility bills may be paid and any customer service question can be asked at the customer service window located in the ground floor front lobby of City Hall at First and Pine Streets | |
| In addition
to our walk-in and drive-up windows, three local banks, Five Points Bank,
Tier One
Bank and Union Bank accept utility payments at their banking
facilities. Customers only need to have their utility statement when
making payment. We also offer an automatic bank withdrawal or payment by credit card where the customer can choose the day of the month that they want their payment applied to their account. We offer these convenient bill paying options at no charge. If a utility customer prefers a consistent payment every month, we offer a budget billing plan. Budget billing, combined with automatic bank withdrawal or credit card payment is a popular choice for customer convenience. Each month, you will receive your monthly utility bill as you always have. On the bottom portion of the bill, we will print the amount of the automatic bank withdrawal or the amount to be paid by credit card and a notation that the bill will be paid on the date you have selected.
If you would like to take advantage of any of these bill payment programs, please call Customer Service at 308-385-5480, or visit our Customer Service center located on the ground floor of City Hall.
