Construction of the two combustion turbine-generators are financed by existing funds on hand by GIUD and bonds approved by the Grand Island City Council. Grand Island Utilities Department electric rates are not anticipated to increase in order to complete the project. Electric customers in Nebraska pay some of the lowest electric prices in the nation. GIUD customers enjoy some of the lowest electric rates in Nebraska.
